Woodrow A. ‘Woody’ Hake

Woodrow A. "Woody" Hake of Waukesha died Monday, June 16, 2008, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at age 95. Woody was born in Fort Atkinson on Oct. 8, 1912, the son of Benjamin and Ada Hake.

He married Hazel Schwemmer in Fort Atkinson on Nov. 25, 1940. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Woody was a cabinet maker and owned Hake Cabinets. He enjoyed music and was a member of the Jefferson Community Band and the Waukesha Area Symphonic Band. His passions in life were his family, woodworking, fishing, traveling, playing cards, dancing and sweets.

Woody will be sadly missed by his wife of 67 years, Hazel; his children, Karen (James) Grace of St. Germain, Phyllis Taylor of Waukesha and Bruce (Donna) Hake of Waukesha; his grandchildren, Deborah (George) Eimer, Dennis (Becky) Grace, Carrie (Scott) Pedersen, Angela (Kim) Kittelson, Todd (Robin) Taylor, Jennifer (Jason) Sherman and Jim Hake; 13 great grandchildren; and his brother, Lloyd Hake. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Woody was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, June 20, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. A second visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service Saturday, June 21, at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. The Rev. Dan Schwerin will be officiating. Entombment will take place immediately following the service at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.
