Stanley Ervin Frey passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, of an acute heart condition. Stanley was born Jan. 21, 1930, in Milwaukee, the son of Norma and Arthur Frey.
Stanley grew up on Okauchee Lake near Oconomowoc, where he developed a taste for the outdoors. He graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1948, where he lettered in baseball four times as a pitcher. He married Monica Fleischman of North Lake in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 in Germany. Stanley worked as a mechanic and parts manager at several auto dealerships for more than 25 years. He was the founding president of the Stone Bank Sportsmen’s Club. He moved to Harshaw in Oneida County in 1978.
Stanley is survived by his four children, Claudia Nelson, Lonnie Frey, Stanley J. Frey and Jane Mies; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wesley and Jerome.
A celebration of Stanley’s life will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home, 24 E. Davenport St., Rhinelander, with a luncheon to follow.
