Daniel F. Meissner

Daniel F. Meissner left this life peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family to be present with his lord and savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008.

Daniel faithfully served his lord at First Baptist Church of Merton as deacon for 47 years and as a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. Dan also served as a Waukesha County supervisor for 12 years and a Lisbon town supervisor for 12 years. He volunteered for 19 years on the Lisbon Fire Department. He was president of Hickory Hill Farms Inc. for 20 years. Dairy farming was his way of life. He was born in the farmhouse and was a lifelong resident of the town of Lisbon.

Daniel is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Deborah (nee Dueringer); children, Scott (Beth) Meissner of Orange City, Iowa, Susan (Gerald) Clark of Oregon, Ill., Jane (Scott) Booth of Clintonville, Peter (Shannon) Meissner of Sussex, Pam (John) Geers of Sussex, Mark (Jennifer) Meissner of Hartland and Michael (Kristin) Meissner of Sussex; 27 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He further is survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Vera Meissner; sister, Donna Brook; brother, Thomas Meissner; and son, Jeffrey Meissner.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Schmidt & Bartelt A.A. Schmidt & Sons Funeral Home, W250-N6505 Highway 164, Sussex. Visitation continues from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, March 4, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Darrel Schrock presiding.

The family suggests memorials be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church, Merton.
