Cullen C. Casey

Cullen C. Casey, a lifelong resident of Waukesha, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Waukesha Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center at age 96. Cullen was born Dec. 25, 1911, the son of John J. Casey and Anna Gates.

He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a past president of the Holy Name Society, a longtime member of the church choir and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. Cullen served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Amvets. Cullen attended Marquette University and was an avid Marquette fan. He retired from Waukesha Motors. Cullen was the leader of Cullen Casey’s Orchestra and was a longtime member of the Musician’s Union.

Cullen will be sadly missed by his children, Carol (Dick) La Monte of Beloit, Bill (Lynn) Casey of West Allis, John Casey of Emigrant, Mont., Anne Slonske of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Kevin Casey of Waukesha; grandchildren, Joe (Deanne) Casey, Scott (Nancy) Casey, Bob Casey, Michelle (Bob) Pokorney, Rich and Mike La Monte and Chris, Mary, Valerie and Angie Slonske; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Paul Casey of Waukesha. Cullen is further survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cullen was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia; his second wife, Mary Jane; and his brothers, John Jr. and Burton.

Visitation for Cullen will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass on Monday, March 24, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Immediately following the Mass, a committal service and military honors will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
