Violet ‘Vi’ S. Counsell

Violet S. "Vi" Counsell, 90, of Oconomowoc, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Shorehaven Health and Rehabilitation. She was born Nov. 10, 1917, in Beaver to Herman Schlag and Rosa Baumgart.
Vi married Huck Counsell on Nov. 18, 1944, in Oconomowoc.
She is survived by her children, Al (Gloria) Counsell of Sullivan, Don (Sue) Counsell of Oconomowoc, Jim (Linda) Counsell of Oconomowoc, Jerry (Marcia) Counsell of Oconomowoc, Kathy (John) Brocke of Belleview, Ill., Steve "Cheech" (Cyndi) Counsell of Oconomowoc, Tim (Sue) Counsell of Oconomowoc and Bob (Ellie) Counsell of Oconomowoc. She is further survived by 24 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Huck Counsell.
Vi was a former beautician in the Old Majestic Hotel in Oconomowoc, and she was very artistic. Vi was an accomplished musician who wrote her high school fight song that is still used today at Oconto High School.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm-Kreutzmann Funeral Home, 121 S. Cross St., Oconomowoc. A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 15 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 211 S. Main St., Oconomowoc. The Rev. John Yockey will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Jerome Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Jerome Endowment Fund or Oconomowoc Scholarship Fund are appreciated.
