Mary Jane Draeger

Mary Jane Draeger of Waukesha died Friday, May 16, 2008, at LindenGrove in Waukesha at age 88.

She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1939 and married Frederick John Draeger on April 5, 1941, in Pewaukee. Mary Jane worked for Waukesha schools in the cafeteria for many years and also volunteered for La Casa de Esperanza where she and Fritz helped prepare lunches. Mary Jane was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waukesha where she was involved in women’s groups and helped in Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed working with the Girl Scouts and liked to read, write letters and study genealogy. Mary Jane traveled all over the United States for family history. Into her 80s, she continued research on the Internet on her computer.

Mary Jane will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sandra Bartosh (Jake Hoff) of Eau Claire and Riki (Daniel) Calvano of Waukesha; grandchildren, Debbie (Matt) McGrury of Milwaukee, Nicholas (Bridget) Calvano of Waukesha, Dean (Debra Lynn) Bartosh of Muskego and Kristina (Michael) Briley; great grandchildren, Ashley and Callie Bartosh and Dominic and Brittany Calvano; sister, Lydia Mae Coffee of Ada, Okla.; half-brother, Henry (Doris) Travis of Salina, Kan.; her half-sister, Loretta Miller of Kansas; and Kristina (Michael) Briley of West Allis. She is additionally survived by "The Cousins," who all met for a monthly multi-generational "Cousins" dinner and other relatives and friends.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz; parents; and two brothers, George and Warren Harding.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, May 20, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, with the Rev. Dr. Jim Carlson officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
