Jack G. Jahnke May 4, 1933 - May 22, 2008Jack G. Jahnke, age 75, of Lake Arrowhead, Adams County (Nekoosa), went to his eternal reward Thursday, May 22, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. Jack was born May 4, 1933, in Appleton to Harvey and Lucille Jahnke.ﾊHe served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a heavy equipment operator, stationed in Alaska.ﾊ He married Shirley Kraft on July 27, 1957, in Menasha. ﾊHe was employed at Sperry Univac/Unisys of Milwaukee for 35 years, retiring as a computer systems engineer and later was employed by Fresh Brands (Piggly Wiggly) in Sheboygan for five years as a retail tech engineer.Jack served on the board of directors at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course, where he was instrumental in the development of the ﾒLakesﾓ course.ﾊ He was a member of the Menﾕs 18 Hole League.ﾊ He worked as a starter at Lake Arrowhead and was also the ﾒSmiling Ranger.ﾓ An active member of Sacred Heart Parish of Nekoosa, Jack served as an usher and assisted in decorating the church.ﾊ Jackﾕs other interests included singing in the Lake Arrowhead Chorus, and outdoor activities such as golfing, fishing and hunting and watching his grandchildren play sports.Ever the family man, Jack was a loving husband, father and grandfather. ﾊHe especially loved and enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren.He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley, and four children: Michael (Polly) Jahnke of Racine, Mark (Michele) Jahnke of Merrill, Joseph (Barb) Jahnke of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Mary Jahnke of Prairie du Sac. He is further survived by 11 grandchildren: ﾊJason, Taylor, Grant, Hope, Sammy, Tim, Logan, Luke, Brianna, Tanner, and Emma, and two brothers:ﾊRichard (Carol) Jahnke of Appleton and Neil (Dee) Jahnke of Fort Meyers, Fla.He is further survived by many loving and caring friends at Lake Arrowhead. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Elaine Jahnke, and one brother, Keith Jahnke. Memorials may be designated to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Adams County Food Pantry. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa. ﾊ The Rev. John Swing will officiate.ﾊ Cremation will follow.ﾊ Burial will be at a later date at St. Maryﾕs Cemetery in Menasha.ﾊ Friends may call at Sacred Heart Church from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday.ﾊFeldner/Ritchay Funeral Home of Nekoosa is assisting the family.
