Genieve Schloemer

Dec. 19,1915 - May 22, 2008

Genieve (nee Rheingans) Schloemer joined her husband, Howard, in eternity on May 22, 2008 with her family at her side at LindenGrove in Menomonee Falls at the age of 92 years.

Genieve was born Dec. 19, 1915 in Lena, to Melvin and Amalie Rheingans. On Jan. 14, 1938, she married Dr. Howard Schloemer. She worked closely with her husband and father-in-law, Adolph J. Schloemer, in their medical practice and she was a timeless volunteer for many positions in the church and the community, including the The Women's Club, The Menomonee Falls Historical Society and the area parent-teacher association. Genieve was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She enjoyed many leisure activities with her family, sporting events and gardening.

She was the loving mother of Karen (the late David) Smith, Kristine (Daniel) DeKarske, John (Carleen) and Karolyn (Russell) Newman.

She was the proud grandmother of Christopher (Danielle) Smith, Kristin (Kevin) Smyk, Alyssa (fiance Travis Knutson) and Andrea DeKarske, Nathan (fiancee Fallon Kongshaug), Lindsay Schloemer, Kaylin, Noelle and the late Margaret Newman and great-grandmother of Kelsey and Cole Smyk.

She is survived by her dear sister, Arleen (the late Paul) Wick, and sister-in-law Sylvia (the late Jerome) Rheingans, and is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Marvin and her sister, Valeria (the late Harold) Hennes. Genieve's family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the staff at LindenGrove for making our mother feel at home the last 4.5 years. We also owe Dr. John Riesch our heartfelt thanks for caring for our mother over the years.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at St. Paul's UCC, N89-W16856 Appleton Ave., Menomonee Falls. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service at the church. A private burial will take place at Washington County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul's UCC Foundation, the LindenGrove Foundation or Community Memorial Hospital Foundation are appreciated.
