Louise Mitten Jahnke

Louise Mitten Jahnke of Waukesha died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at age 78. Louise was born Dec. 28, 1929, the daughter of Sylvester and Kathleen Mitten.

Louise was a dynamic Girl Scout leader for many years. She and her Girl Scouts enjoyed traveling, camping, learning outdoor skills and being involved in community service. Louise’s family was honored with the Outstanding Scouting Award. Louise loved gardening, knitting, cooking and interior design. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren.

Louise will be deeply missed by the love of her life, her husband, Richard; daughters, Kathleen (Paul) Hoffman and Mary Lynn Jahnke; grandchildren, Mara, Michael and Matthew; sisters, Kay (Arthur) Rehberger and Mary (Eugene) Bartkowski; and brother, John (Libby) Mitten. Louise is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Joseph Jahnke, and her parents.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass on Saturday, May 31, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. William Key will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Waukesha.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Louise’s name may be directed to St. Joseph Medical and Dental Clinic, Inc., 826 N. East Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186; Marquette University, 500 N. 19th St., Milwaukee, WI 53201; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
