Edward Joseph Walsh

Jan. 28, 1944 - Nov. 13, 2008

Life is a gift, and the people that you hold close to your heart are the blessings.

Ed blessed so many lives and made the world a better place for those who needed him. He gave of himself so thoughtlessly, and too often refused to allow others the opportunity to return the favor by caring for him.

Ed was a strong, proud and stubborn man up until the very end, bringing all those whom he loved most together so no one would have to mourn alone. When he loved, he loved so completely and so selflessly.

Ed was a man of honor and cared for his family with pride and compassion. He raised three brilliant and remarkable children, providing them with the tools and values they needed to leave their own positive mark in the world. He loved each of his children with every part of himself, and knew without a doubt that they loved him back.

Ed is leaving behind the love of his life, his wife Mary (nee Vilmer). Together they created three beautiful children, Sean (Lynn), Kathy and Mike (Nicole); and five remarkable grandchildren, Brenden, Mandy, Sean, Joey and Emma. Also, he left behind his loving sister, Maureen.

There will be no service for Ed. He selflessly donated his body to the medical school in hopes of helping others live a more fulfilling life. We are all blessed for having known him, and we will always love him.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the extraordinary staff at LindenGrove and Allay Hospice. We cannot begin to express our gratitude and admiration for your selfless devotion to making each of us comfortable, and for bestowing upon us such compassion and empathy. You all were so unbelievably wonderful, and each of you has touched our hearts in a very special way.
