John A. McAdams Dec. 18, 1923 - Nov. 25, 2008
John was a graduate of Mukwonago High School. He served his country as a medic in the Army during World War II. He was the former owner and operator of seven Waukesha County-area Pick ‘n Saves, and could always be found in the cereal aisle at the Mukwonago store. In 2001, John received the W.G.A. Grocer of the Year Award, and in 2006, he was awarded the Outstanding Service to the Community Award by the Mukwonago Rotary Club. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 375 and St. James Catholic Church, both in Mukwonago. John was also an avid walker. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lorraine (nee Dapper); his loving children, Sharon Burt, Patrick (Kathie), Michael (Debbie), Terry, Joe (Karen) and Tom (Amy); and his dear siblings, Lorraine Weinkauf, Marian Peer, Gerald (Dawn), Helen (Ken) Schmid and Al. John is further survived by his loving 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, David Burt; and a sister, Joyce Simon. A memorial gathering will be held from 1 p.m. until the 5 p.m. memorial Liturgy of the Word on Sunday, Nov. 30, at St. James Catholic Church, 830 Highway NN East, Mukwonago. Per John’s wishes, his body was donated to the Medical College of Wisconsin.
