Earl Gilbert Becker

Earl Gilbert Becker of Waukesha died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at age 92. Earl was born in Lynn on March 16, 1916, the son of the late Otto and Lydia Becker.
He married Una Gruhle on December 27, 1938. Earl served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a lieutenant, communications officer and navigator. During the war he took 22 trips across the North Atlantic on liberty ships and tankers. He was a member of the American Legion Cudworth Post No. 23. Earl was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was an industrial arts teacher in Green Belt, Md., Norfolk, Va., and at Shorewood High School here in Wisconsin. Earl was also a supervisor at Square D in Milwaukee and retired in 1998 from Midwest Press Brake.
Earl will be sadly missed by his wife of 69 years, Una of Waukesha; sons, Dennis E. (Connie) Becker of Waukesha and Dan L. (Pam) Becker of West Lafayette, Ind.; grandchildren, Donna (Paul) Zerovic of Milwaukee and Garrett Becker of Waukesha; great-granddaughter, Olivia Calderon; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elmer (Eunice) and Herbert (Ruth); and sister, Florence.
Visitation will be held from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday, Oct. 4, at Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery Family Center, South Chapel, 12875 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield. Entombment will take place immediately following the service with military honors.
