Helen M. Bell

Helen M. Bell, a longtime Waukesha resident, was born to eternal life Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at age 103. Helen was born Nov. 8, 1904, in Merton.

She was married to Einar Hansen for 18 years and was widowed for three years. She married Theodore Bell on Oct. 3, 1944. He passed away in December 1984.

Helen was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha for many years, where she ran the 9 o’clock nursery for 16 years. She taught release time school for eight years and wrote get well cards for 21 years at the church. Helen was also a member of the evening Bible study and Deborah Circle. She was a member of the Red Arrow 32nd Division Auxiliary and the Waukesha Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Joyce Fahlstedt, and son, James (Violet) Hansen. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Bessie Shelmidine, Mabel Herman and James Bell. Helen is further survived by her son-in-law, Eugene Osterhaus, and by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Osterhaus; son-in-law, Theodore Bell Jr.; three sisters; and two brothers.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the "celebration of her going home" service at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 W. Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha.
