Norma Althea Genevieve Lowe (nee Althen)
Jan. 25, 1924 - Oct. 4, 2008
Norma Althea Genevieve Lowe (nee Althen), 84, of Oconomowoc, peacefully passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Shorehaven Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 25, 1924, in Two Rivers, to Conrad and Nora Althen. In 1950, she married Lewis Lowe and resided in Okauchee. After Lewis’s death in 1985, she moved to Oconomowoc. Norma continued working at Olympia Resort & Spa as a masseuse and facialist until she had a life-altering stroke and found a new home at Shorehaven Nursing Home. She lived there for the past 9 1/2 years.
Norma greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, playing cards and helping others. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends. She was always there for her children and grandchildren, making one-on-one time for each of them. Norma was a wonderful parent and role model. Many mentioned her kind and considerate nature, worrying about the needs of others. She always told her family, "You never get to choose the cards you are dealt in life, so learn to accept them and live each day to the fullest." She lived her life according to her own words of wisdom. Norma will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Lewis (Judy) Lowe Jr. of Black River Falls; daughter, Denise (Jeff) Neumann of Oconomowoc; four grandchildren, Jenny (Brette) Szalanski, Scott (Melissa) Lowe, Melissa (James) Haakenson and Mary Lou Shipman; and eight great-grandchildren, Darien, Issac, Daimon, Alexa, Evan, Kaleb, Savannah and Jacob.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. memorial service Thursday, Oct. 9, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 Summit Ave. (Highway 67), Oconomowoc. The Rev. Douglas Fleischfresser will be officiating.
