Mavis M. Witek April 29, 1935 - Oct. 15, 2008
Mavis grew up and attended schools in Hurley and married Ernest メErnieモ Witek on Jan. 21, 1956, in Ironwood. She and her husband moved to Milwaukee, residing there until moving to Waukesha in 1972. Mavis worked at Waukesha City Clerkユs office for 17 years, retiring in 2000, and continued to be involved in working at the election polls. Mavisユ family was extremely important to her. She enjoyed every year going to deer camp and cooking for the guys. She loved spending time up north with her family. Mavis was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Waukesha for 36 years. Mavis will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Ernie of Waukesha; eight children, Mark Witek of Waukesha, Kim Witek of Cedarburg, Mike (Jennifer) Witek of Wales, Maureen (John) Walton of Franklin, Karen (Mike) Ness of Wickenburg, Ariz., Cheryl Witek of Waukesha, Jim (Nikki) Witek of Waukesha and John Witek of Wauwatosa; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, her twin Virginia (Bill) Heikkila of Globe, Ariz., and Gail Kniska of Hurley; stepmother, Hilda Polso of Hurley; and nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, Anselm and Aili Polso. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the 5:30 p.m. funeral service Saturday, Oct. 18, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1205 S. East Ave., Waukesha, with the Rev. Peter Schmidt officiating.
