Joshua S. Spoolstra

Dec. 25, 2003 - Aug. 26, 2008

Surrounded by his loving family, Joshua S. Spoolstra went home to heaven to meet Jesus on Friday, Aug. 26, 2008, at the age of 4 after a year-long journey with a rare, inoperable brainstem tumor. Joshua was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Dec. 25, 2003, the son of Glen and Kristi Spoolstra.

Joshua loved Thomas the Tank Engine and building train tracks. He also enjoyed board games, riding his big wheel, running, climbing and singing. Joshua will always be remembered for his laugh, quotes and silly rhymes.

Joshua will be deeply missed by his parents, Glen and Kristi Spoolstra of Waukesha; sister, Anna; brothers, Benjamin and Nathaniel; and grandparents, Clyde (Ellen) Spoolstra of Waupaca and Ron (Laura) Nelson of Escalon, Calif. Joshua is further survived by great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service for Joshua will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Oakwood Church, 3041 Oakwood Road, Hartland, WI 53029. The Rev. Roger Ellis will be officiating. There will be a reception at the church following the service. A private family burial took place at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon, Calif.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 13195 W. Hampton Ave., Butler, WI 53007, Oakwood Church (address above) or The Caring Bridge, www.caringbridge.org.
