Virginia Caroline Pflasterer Schmuki

Jan. 28, 1920 - Sept. 7, 2008

Virginia Schmuki, 88, died peacefully at AngelsGrace Hospice on Sept. 7, 2008. She was born Jan. 28, 1920, in DeSoto, Ill., to Henry J. and Mary (nee Hennrich) Pflasterer.

She married Claude John Schmuki on May 20, 1944. He died July 9, 1965.

Survivors include two sons, Claude John (Pam) of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Thomas Warren (Carol) of Wales; five grandchildren, Angela (Joey) Drews, Brett (Leia), Samantha (Wally) Dittrich, Zachariah (fiancee Janelle) and Jeremiah (Sara); four great-grandchildren, Joshuah Schmuki, Brennan Dittrich, Kailey Dittrich and Nola Schmuki; two sisters, Rose Mary Kline and Lucy May Drew; and many other friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Marguerite Sundt; and four brothers, Leon, Fred, Jacob and Harold "Pete" Pflasterer.

Virginia worked for Woolworth for 22 years in Waukesha and at Brookfield Square. She was widely known for her beautiful quilt-making.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Waukesha. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service Thursday at Church and Chapel (four blocks south of Interstate 94 at highways J and JJ).
