Eleanor B. Bardeen

Eleanor B. Bardeen (nee Thiel) died peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at age 98. She was born and raised in Waukesha and moved to Milwaukee and later California as an adult. She attended Carroll College and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee .

She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Bob) Gjerde, Bette (Ken Woodruff) and Lonni (Mark) Mueller, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She will also be missed by many other relatives and friends.

Eleanor was widowed at age 34 from Lawrence Bardeen and raised three daughters on her own. She returned to school to become an accountant, and worked both in Milwaukee and Los Angeles for many years. She was an avid bridge player and an excellent knitter. She loved to travel and read and always had an interest in politics and women’s rights. She taught her daughters that they could do anything and to take pride in their achievements.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorials to the charity of your choice are suggested.
