Carlyn H. Neumann

Carlyn H. Neumann of Oconomowoc died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, under comfort care at Shorehaven Health and Rehab Center. She was born April 8, 1915, in Waukesha to William and Helen (nee Sielaff) Ivens. She married Fred C. Neumann, who passed away in 1982.

Carlyn was raised on a farm in Delafield and grew up with a love of nature that she imparted to her children and grandchildren. She graduated from Waukesha High School and Miss Brown’s Business School. Her interests were many. She was a Girl Scout leader, life member of Sum-Mer-Del Garden Club, Oconomowoc Hospital Auxiliary and Volunteers and Club 40. She served as Delafield city clerk and was a life member of Delafield Presbyterian Church, of which she was financial secretary, a deacon and an elder. Carlyn had a passion for golfing and playing bridge.

Survivors include two daughters, Sally (Andrew) Schell of Schofield and Sandra Pieper of Oconomowoc and six grandchildren, Kristen Schell McPherson, Heidi (Gareth) Harwood, Karl (Lisa) Schell, Erik (Carrie) Pieper, Austin Schell and Holly (Keith Reich) Pieper and nine great-grandchildren.

One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family.

A celebration of Carlyn’s life will take place at a memorial service Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Delafield Presbyterian Church, 1851 Genesee St., Delafield. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service. The family will join friends at a reception following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Delafield Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to Shorehaven Health and Rehab Center.
