Hazel M. Hake (nee Schwemmer) of Waukesha died at age 90 on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at her home surrounded by family. Hazel, born in Fort Atkinson on Sept. 24, 1917, was the daughter of Fred and Sarah (nee Shrank) Schwemmer.
Hazel married Woodrow A. "Woody" Hake on Nov. 25, 1940. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2008. Hazel was a member of First United Methodist Church. Along with being an exceptional homemaker, Hazel was the office manager of Hake Cabinets. She loved gardening, dancing, playing cards and traveling. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with her children and grandchildren and baking sweets for her family.
Hazel will be sadly missed by her children, Karen (James) Grace of St. Germain, Phyllis Taylor of Waukesha and Bruce (Donna) Hake of Waukesha; her grandchildren, Deborah (George) Eimer, Dennis (Becky) Grace, Carrie (Scott) Pedersen, Angela (Kim) Kittelson, Todd (Robin) Taylor, Jennifer (Jason) Sherman and Jim Hake; 13 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Ullius. Hazel is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Harvey and Glenn.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Sept. 23, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. A second visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Sept. 24, at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. Dan Schwerin will be officiating. Entombment will take place immediately following the service at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.
