Harding B. Hansen

Harding B. Hansen, 88, of Sarasota, Fla., passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at Prince William Hospital.
Born April 18, 1920, in Strandquist, Minn., he was the son of William F. and Anne O. Nelson Hansen. On Dec. 23, 1941, he married the former Shirlie Fry, who preceded him in death in 1992.
Harding graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelorís degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Allis Chalmers, later known as Siemens Allis, for more than 50 years, serving in different capacities including plant manager and supervisor. He also worked as a civilian in Oakridge, Tenn., on the timing mechanism for the atomic bomb. Mr. Hansen served on the Waukesha Symphony Board and Brookfield School Board in Wisconsin. He was a resident of Sarasota for 28 years, where he was a member of the Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheryl Ann Waltman of Milwaukee; one son, the Rev. William F. (Rozane) Hansen II of Manassas, Va.; one sister, Gwendolyn L. (Robert) Olson of Sarasota; three grandchildren, Anne (Joel) Gosetti of West Allis, Curtis G. Waltman of Big Sky, Mont. and Angie D. Hansen of Centre Barnstead, N.H.; and two great-grandchildren, Nora and Gabriella Gosetti.
There will be no public visitation or funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Sarasota. Interment will take place in the Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden, Sarasota.
