Anita V. ‘Nita’ Beitz

Aug. 11, 1922 - Sept. 17, 2008

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Anita V. Beitz (nee LaFratta) was born to eternal life Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Port Washington, N.Y., to John and Bernice (nee Manzo) LaFratta.

After moving to Waukesha with her parents, she was educated in the Waukesha school system and worked briefly at Waukesha Cutting Tools before meeting the love of her life, Robert W. Beitz. After a brief courtship, Bob and Nita were married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in April 1946, and later became members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Nita was a gifted cook, housekeeper and decorator and created a wonderful home for her family and a place of refuge for her friends. Her abiding love and care for others, especially children, touched many lives forever.

Nita will be sadly and deeply missed by her son, Robert J. Beitz of Waukesha; her brother, Michael (Edith) LaFratta of Waukesha; her sisters-in-law, Violet Tinnes and Mary LaFratta of Waukesha; and her brothers-in-law, Simon (Vernell) Vitale of Waukesha, William Beitz of Brookfield and Paul (Eleanore) Beitz of Watertown. She is further survived by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Nita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Anthony, Peter, Julius LaFratta and Charles (Bernice) Saulino; her sisters, Stella Salerno and Joanna Vitale; and her sisters-in-law, Joyce Beitz and Jean LaFratta.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10 a.m. until the noon Mass of Christian burial Saturday, Sept. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell, Ave., Waukesha, with the Very Rev. James T. Volkert officiating. Private entombment will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Special thanks for the care provided by the staff of Waukesha Memorial Hospital, Oncology Alliance and Allay Home and Hospice.

Memorials will be directed by the family.
