LeRoy Mendell Sr.

LeRoy Mendell Sr., 76, of Oconomowoc, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital surrounded by family members.

LeRoy served his country in the Army during the Korean War. LeRoy was also an active member in the Holiday United Church of Christ in Florida. He was a past member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Dousman. LeRoy was a past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2260 in Oconomowoc, master of the Masonic Lodge 108, F. & A.M. No. 418 in Neosho, a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner member and also belonged to High Twelve Club in Florida, West Pasco/Holiday. He was also a member of clan No. 50 of the Hillbilly degree and American Legion in Marathon, Fla., Post No. 0154.

He is survived by a son, LeRoy Jr. (Lisa) Mendell of Fort Atkinson; his daughters, Debora (Gary) Goodman of Johnson Creek, Cindy (Burdus) Galbraith of Kingsland, Ga., and Sandy (Harold) Stevens of Kingsland; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; a sister, Betty Morden; a daughter, Cynthia (Brenning) Livermore; a grandson, Shaun Livermore; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the noon funeral service Saturday, Sept. 27, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 Summit Ave. (Highway 67), Oconomowoc.

There will also be a service at Kempster United Church of Christ on Monday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m. with a visitation starting at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Kempster Lakeside Cemetery in Kempster.
