Jack Larry Westphal

Jack Larry Westphal of Waukesha died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at his home at age 73. Jack was born in Caspian, Mich., on Feb. 11, 1936, the son of the late Albert and Edith Westphal.
Jack married Glenda Jacobson on Sept. 2, 1961. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a medic in the United States and Germany. Jack was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Jack and Glenda were foster parents for numerous children. After his retirement from Waukesha Engine, he went to work for United Apartments in maintenance. Jack and Glenda were managers at Brookfield Highland Apartments for many years. He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, woodworking, fixing things, playing the harmonica and sports, especially baseball.
Jack will be deeply missed by his wife, Glenda; his son, Jack (Kathy) Westphal of Brookfield; his daughters, Susan (Kevin) Pfeiffer of Waukesha, Lisa Westphal of Waukesha and Margo (Mark) Colvin of Waukesha; his brothers, Orville (Rhoda) of Caspian, Mich., Ray (Barbara) of Caspian, Mich., Ronald (Kathy) of Kenosha, Glen (Nita) of Oconto Falls and Gary (Marilyn) of Caspian, Mich.; and his sisters, Betty Olson of Raleigh, N.C. and June Rooney of Milwaukee. Jack is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Merle, David and Bruce; and his sister, Carol.
A memorial service for Jack will be held at 6:30 p.m. today, April 10 at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188. A visitation for Jack will be held from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the 6:30 p.m. service today at the church. Inurnment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veteran Cemetery in Union Grove.
