Raymond B. ‘Ray’ Van Kempen

Raymond B. "Ray" Van Kempen of Oconomowoc, 94, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy (Jim) Kleinschmidt; son, John (LuAnn); grandchildren, Jill Lopez, Aimee (Kevin) Roehl and Heidi, Dan and Erin Van Kempen; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel Lopez, and Hayden and Zachary Roehl; his brother, Ervin (Ruby); sisters, Geneva Mohs and Irene (John) Lahair; sister-in-law, Evelyn Van Kempen; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fay, in 2000, and brother, Orville, in 2006.

Ray retired from the maintenance department at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital in 1979 and was still enjoying fishing and his dart league until a few months ago.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, April 23, at Zion Episcopal Church, 135 Rockwell Place, Oconomowoc.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Regional Cancer Center of Oconomowoc.
