Donald Jerome ‘Don’ Hering

Donald Jerome “Don” Hering of Waukesha died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Oak Hill Terrace at age 87. Don was born in Juneau on Jan. 26, 1922, the son of Frank Panzer and Eva Vesper.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 12th Division, 134 ORD. BN. He married Marge Wendel on Dec. 31, 1942, at Camp Campbell , Kentucky . He was a pharmaceutical representative for the F. Dohmen Co. for more than 50 years. He was a member of the 12th Armored Division Association serving as a unit rep. for 20 years and worked his way up to vice president. Don was also a member of the Wisconsin Veterans Pharmaceutical Association, American Legion Cudworth Post and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, traveling and spending time with his family.

Don will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 66 years, Marge; children, Dennis (Dee Dee) Hering of Oshkosh, Greg (Judy) Hering of New Berlin and Mary (Mark) Stinebrink of Lake Geneva; nine grandchildren, Dean (Angie), Tricia, Tammy (Rob), Aaron (Jamie), Ivy (David), Matthew, David (Kathy), Angie and Katie (Jason); 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Hahn; brother-in-law, Carl Cotsakis; and nieces and nephews, Wayne, Sandy, Patty, Dick and Sharon. Don is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bud; sister, Ruth and niece, Audrey.

Visitation for Don will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass on Monday, Aug. 3, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 Highway 59, Waukesha, WI 53188. A committal service with military honors will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
