Michael Heim, 51, of Elgin, Minn., formerly of Oconomowoc, joined Jesus on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, surrounded by his loving family and pets Sami and Rosi.
Michael is survived by his wife of 24 years, Cindy (nee Gartzke) from Dousman; son, Robert Ray Heim; daughter, Sara Rae Heim; brothers, Paul (Julie) Heim and David (Becky) Heim; sisters, Barb (Dan) Anderson, Karen (Steve) Myers Bonander and Chris (Charlie) Hampton; parents, Ray and Betty Heim; mother-in-law, Dorothy Gartzke; along with many other relatives and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by a nephew, Adam Hampton; father-in-law, Robert Gartzke; and his grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. celebration of Michael’s life Sunday, Aug.16, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minn., with the Rev. Steve Schauder officiating. A reception will follow.

Mike was the former owner of Artistic Tours and the present owner of Travel Organization Network Exchange. He was also an author of “Exploring America's Highways: Trip Trivia.” He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, past president of the Dousman Lions Club, a member of the America Bus Association (ABA) and the National Tour Association (ATA).
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. After a 14-month-battle with glioblastoma brain tumor, we are very proud of Mike for donating his body so others may live. The family will miss traveling and spending time with their loving father and husband.
