James ‘Jim’ Gustave Schlei

Dec. 31, 1941 - Aug. 26, 2009

Jim Schlei went to heaven on Aug. 26, 2009.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary this past July. He also is survived by his children, daughter Vicki (Darrell) Fritter, son Bradley (Lori) Schlei and youngest daughter Melissa (Dave) Peters. He also was loved dearly by six grandchildren, Colin James, Brenden William, Christopher James, Nicholas Richard, Mitchell Allen and Lauren Elizabeth; and also is survived by his brother, Richard (Diane) Schlei and their family.

Jim served his country as a sergeant in the Army, working as a weapons instructor.

He was a service Officer at the Magnus Anderson American Legion Post 399 in Okauchee. He coordinated and ran the legion’s annual charity golf tournament for the past several years. He loved his extended family at the legion.

One of his many passions was cars. He was involved in the car business over four decades and owned multiple car businesses over the years. Jim also loved spending time on the golf course, boating and fishing - especially for muskies.

His number one passion was his family. Jim was a very special husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed greatly.

The family will receive friends and family at the American Legion Post 399 in Okauchee this Saturday, Aug. 29. A service will begin at noon and will include military honors, followed by a luncheon and fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the family are appreciated.
