Irene O. Werner (nee Spilker) of Carrington, N.D., formerly of West Allis, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at the age of 78. She was born Nov. 29, 1930, the daughter of Arnold and Hazel (Gladden) Spilker.

Irene married Gerald Werner on Feb.14, 1953. She loved going to the casino, angels, crocheting, and was known for making the world’s best homemade potato salad. Irene’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, which she cherished dearly.

Irene will be deeply missed by husband, Gerald Werner; children, Patti (the late John) Hillis, Barbara (Joe) Mudgett, Selma (Mark) Jordan, Valerie Spade, Deborah (Gary) Miller and Timothy (Barbara) Werner; 17 grandchildren; 19 greatgrandchildren; her brothers, Edward (Evelyn) Spilker and Herbert Spilker; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Penny; son, Wesley; and sister, Sophie.

Visitation for Irene will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. Visitation continues from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Friday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the service at Highland Memorial Park, 14875 W. Greenfield Ave., New Berlin.
