William John Leitheiser

Jan. 20, 1923 – Nov. 27, 2009

William John Leitheiser of Wales, formerly of Hartland and originally from Bellaire, Fla., joined his beloved wife, Ruth (Coerper); parents, Arthur and Margaret (Kane); brother, Karl; sister, Margaret; and nephew, Andy, on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at the age of 86.

He will be greatly missed by his four daughters and their families, Lynn (Ed) Lewis of Evergreen, Colo., Katherine (Ron) Jagger of Littleton, Colo., Joan (Dave Guerra) Halquist of Oconomowoc and Carol (John) Nagy of Hartland, and his 12 grandchildren, Steven, Kimberly and Mike Hovdesven, Erica and Kevin Jagger, Audrey, Margaret, Greg, Susan and Lauren Halquist, and William and Sarah Nagy.

Bill died peacefully in his sleep after a full life. He worked in the hospitality business, managing resorts from the Adirondacks to the Florida Keys. As a child, his family lived at the Belleview Biltmore in Belleair, Fla., in the winters and spent his summers in Groton, Conn., and Garden City, N.Y. He attended Notre Dame and graduated from Duke in 1946. He met his future wife on New Year’s Eve in 1959 at the Vinoy Hotel in St. Petersburg and married her three months later. In recent years, he has enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, winters in Florida and wood working. Bill loved and appreciated life.
