Lyla F. Baker, 94, of Dousman, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at the Masonic Center for Health & Rehab. Mrs. Baker was born June 14, 1915, in Cleveland, Minn., to Harry and Bessie Trumble. She married the Rev. Marvin A. Baker on June 28, 1941.

He preceded her in death April 14, 1974. Lyla was the loving mother of three sons. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker and ministerís wife. After Marvinís death, she worked as a nurseís aide at the Masonic Home. She was an active member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Dousman and a member of the Eastern Star. She will be remembered fondly for her chocolate chip cookies stored in the freezer, the hard candy made at the church and the colored marshmallows she always had on hand when the grandchildren came to visit.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jean Henke, and her daughter-inlaw, Shirley Baker.

Survivors include her sons, Keith Baker of Mindoro, Rodney (Brenda) Baker of Maumee, Ohio, and the Rev. Darryl (Ginny) Baker of Kannapolis, N.C.; her nephew, Brian (Dianne) Henke; her grandchildren, Terri (Anthony) Spinelli of Seattle, Wash., Tracy (Chris) Re of Meridian, Idaho, Julie (Chris) Blakely of Sylvania, Ohio, Melanie (Kris) Masters of Petersburg, Mich., Rod Baker of Ferrum, Va., Erin Baker of Richmond, Ky., and Nicole Baker of Memphis, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Siena Spinelli, Jonah and Phalen Re, Madeline and Amelie Blakely, and Keegan, Brendon and Brody Masters; grandnieces, Elizabeth and JoLynn Henke; and grandnephew, Gordy Henke.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Thursday, Dec. 12, in the fellowship hall at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 36812 Sunset Drive (Highway 18) in Dousman, with the Rev. Nansi Hawkins officiating.
