Joyce E. Isham

Joyce E. Isham, 82, of Lac Courte Oreilles, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, in Hayward.

Joyce Elizabeth was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Hayward, the daughter of Alfred and Mary (Corbine) Trepania. She grew up in Reserve and attended Kinnamon School and Hayward High School. In 1947, Joyce was united in marriage to Irwin Isham in Ohio. They resided in Waukesha, where Joyce received her nursing assistant degree from WCTC. She worked as a nurse aide at Northview County Home in Waukesha until they returned to Lac Courte Oreilles in 1978. In Hayward, she continued her work as an nurse aide for Valley Health Care Center.

She was preceded in death by Irwin in 1993, then was married to Russell Nelson in 2007.

She is survived by her husband, Russell; sons, Jerome (Donna) Isham and Louie Nickence of Lac Courte Oreilles; daughter, Shari (Duane) Marquardt of Waukesha; daughter-in-law, Renee Isham; four grandchildren, Margaret (David) Yauck, Ben (Theresa) Marquardt, Andy Marquardt and Jerome Isham; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jessica and Shyann; and many nephews and nieces.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Irwin; son, Irwin “Buz” Isham; sisters, Ruth, Joan and Doris; and brothers Joseph and LaVerne.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today, Dec. 11, at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at St. Francis Solanus Indian Mission in Reserve. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
