Pedro “Peter”
Medina Jr. of Waukesha died Wednesday,
Dec. 9, 2009, at his home at the age of 62. He was born Oct. 7 1947 in
Cibolo
Texas, to Pedro Sr. and Placida (nee Campa) Medina.
He
proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam
War. While serving in the military, he received the National Defense
Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, Vietnam Campaign
Medal with device, Combat Action Ribbon and Rifle Marksman Badge. On
April 18, 1989, he married Gloria J. (nee Sanchez) Medina in Waukesha.
For many years, Peter was a youth counselor at Ethan Allen School for
Boys. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and
member of DAV Chapter 5 in Waukesha.
He
is survived by his wife, Gloria of Waukesha; stepdaughter, Ericka (Todd)
Smith of Waukesha; and his children, Shaun (Nancy) Riberdy of Arizona,
Maria (Tim) Carrizales, Mario Medina, Nina (Dan Jr.) Llanas and Gina T.
Medina, all of Waukesha. He was the dear grandfather of Keith, Zach,
Kyle, Jennifer, Jordan, Reyna, Timmy, Anthony (who was like a son),
Danny Jr., Yovanni, Jacenda and Gabriel. He is further survived by his
siblings, Juan Antonio “Tony” Medina of Waukesha, Lupe Medina of
Palmyra, Miguel (Deb) Medina of Menomonee Falls and Juan “Johnny”
(Julie) Medina of Illinois, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many
friends, including Nick Wimble and Richard “Dick” Thome.
Visitation
will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at Randle-Dable
Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, with a rosary service at
7:45 p.m. Services continue at the funeral home Monday, Dec. 14, with
prayers beginning at 10:15 a.m., followed by the procession to St.
Joseph’s Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha, for the 11 a.m.
funeral Mass. Burial will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial
Cemetery in Union Grove.
