Dorothy P. Adams (nee Steele), 90, of North Prairie, formerly of Waukesha, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at her home. She was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Fargo, N.D., the daughter of Del and Mary (nee Baddgor) Steele. Her early years were spent growing up in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
During World War II, she lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and worked at Scientific Radio Products Co. making radio crystals for the military. She was always very proud that on Oct. 2, 1943, Scientific Radio Products Co. was awarded the Army Navy “E” Award for high achievement in the production of materials of war.
After returning to Waukesha, she married David J. Adams on Dec. 3, 1945. He preceded her in death in 2004.
Dorothy enjoyed bowling and was a member of several teams in Waukesha, including: Tuschen Rudolph Morticians, The Hub, Sportsman Bar, and Becker’s Sporting Goods. She also enjoyed traveling and was fortunate to make several family trips to many parts of the U.S. and Canada.
She will be sadly missed by her son and daughter-inlaw, William and Ann Marie (nee Hermanowicz) Adams of Chicago, Ill.; and her daughter and beloved grandson, Patricia and Joshua Adams, both of North Prairie.
Family and friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the 12:30 p.m. funeral service Monday Dec. 28, 2009 at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Graveside services will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. The Rev. John Mundt will preside.
