Michael Barber passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 26, 2008, at age 88.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (nee Sirovina) and the loving father of George, Georgia (Joseph) Reynolds, Dr. Marianne (Thomas) Burton, Eve Hill, Joanne (Richard) Geisheker and Dianne (William) Talatzko.
Mike was the proud and caring grandfather of 13 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
He is further survived by brothers, sisters and other family and friends here and in Europe.
Family was everything to him, and the most important part of his life. Michael was a well-known master horseman and began numerous equestrian clubs. He was the founder of Barberís Bit of Balkan Ranch. He was also a former commander of the Ivanhoe Mason Lodge No. 24, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 91st Division and a member of the Golden Gloves Boxing Club.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, at Schaff Funeral Home, 5920 W. Lincoln Ave., West Allis, with Mali Pomen at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral (please meet at the church). Interment will be at Good Hope Cemetery.
