Eugene ‘Gene’ T. Sheedy

Eugene "Gene" T. Sheedy of Tavares, Fla., formerly of Waukesha, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Florida Hospital-Waterman in Tavares, Fla., at the age of 90. Gene was born Dec. 18, 1919, the son of Patrick and Alice (Beary) Sheedy in Lovilla, Iowa.
He was a member of St. William Catholic Church and proudly served in World War II in the U.S. Army. Gene was president of Wisconsin Coach Lines and retired in 1987. He was also a member of the Waukesha Kiwanis Club. Gene was an avid golfer. Although being in the limelight was never his style, his deep faith, his unshakable integrity, genuine warmth and his love of family have been his guiding principles throughout his life.
Gene will be deeply missed by his wife, Dorothy; his children, Carol (Larry) Norton of Racine, Sally (Jim) Hanson of Anaheim, Calif., Dr. Tom (Lisa) Sheedy of Waukesha, Steve (Carol) Turay of Dana Point, Calif., and Daniel (Carla) Turay of Tavares; his son-in-law, Tom Casey of Waukesha; his grandchildren, Brett, Kelly, Karen, Caitlin, Rachel, Connor, Samantha, Claire, Daniel (Leighane), Laura, Stephan, Shane, Shawn and Scott; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Sarah and Austin; brother, Mike Sheedy of Sycamore, Ill.; sister, Margaret Ann Wright of San Fernando, Calif.; and other relatives and friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his first wife, Bee; his daughter, Joan Casey, D.D.S; his grandson, Scottie; and seven brothers and sister.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. Visitation continues from 8:15 a.m. until 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at the funeral home. The funeral Mass will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. The Rev. Tim Sheedy, his nephew, will officiate. Burial with military honors will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Waukesha.
