Norman L. 'Lane' Tolbert

Norman L. "Lane" Tolbert of Eagle, formerly of Philadelphia, Miss., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at the Virginia Health Care Center at age 76. Lane was born in Philadelphia, Miss., on Sept. 29, 1932, the son of Roger and Lucille (nee Clark) Tolbert.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, his wife Betty Joe Dunn, on Feb. 17, 1951. Lane was a longtime member at Apostolic Life Tabernacle, Waukesha. He loved talking to people about God and the Bible. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Lane was known for being a work-a-holic. His greatest joy in life was being with his family and going to church.

Lane will be deeply missed by his wife, Betty Joe; daughters, Rose (Rev. Michael) Tolbert Hook of Waukesha and Martha (John) Smock of Harrisburg, Ill.; grandchildren, Michaela (Chad) Willmann, Ashley Hook, and Amanda and Matthew Smock; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kayla Rose and Ethan Willmann; brothers, Rev. R.L. (Nancy) Tolbert, Jack (Betty) Tolbert, Dr. Joe L. (Loretta) Boswell and Hilton (Carolyn) Boswell; and sister, Barbara (Jim) Reed. Lane is further survived by many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lamar; and sister, LillanEarl Tolbert.

The funeral service for Lane will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at the Apostolic Life Tabernacle, W271-S2929 Merrill Hills Road, Waukesha. The Rev. Michael Hook will be officiating. The visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the 7 p.m. service Tuesday at the church. Interment will be held at Henryﾕs Chapel Cemetery, Philadelphia, Miss.
