Lyle L. Wolfe

April 13, 1918 - Feb. 11, 2009

Lyle L. Wolfe, a resident of Vintage on the Ponds in Delavan for the past 18 months, formerly of the town of Mukwonago for 67 years, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at Vintage on the Ponds. He was 90 years old.

Lyle was born in the town of Waukesha on April 13, 1918, the son of David and Caroline (nee Schumacher) Wolfe.

On Oct. 5, 1940, he married Ruth L. Box at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Mukwonago. Ruth preceded him in death on March 19, 2007.

Lyle and Ruth had farmed in the town of Mukwonago for many years. They loved to travel and camp together in their motor home, and they also loved to fish.

Lyle was a member of the Sno-Snoops Snowmobile Club of Mukwonago, where he was trail master for many years, and a recipient of the Groomer of the Year Award for the state of Wisconsin in 1998 at age 80. He was also a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha.

Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn (Ed) Loomis of the town of Genesee and Julie (Bill) Zitzler of the town of Mukwonago; three grandchildren Nicole, Mandy and Becki Thompson; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Margaret.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15 at the Schmidt & Bartelt-Van Valin Funeral Home, 315 Main St., (Highway ES), Mukwonago. The Rev. Arthur Koepsell will officiate. Burial will take place privately at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Mukwonago.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimerís Association or to the American Heart Association appreciated.
