Gladys M. Matysik

Gladys M. (Watson) Matysik of Delafield passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at age 90. She was born Aug. 19, 1918, in Jackson County, the daughter of Charles and Lavina Watson, and had three brothers and two sisters.
She married Edward Matysik on Nov. 6, 1935. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 2002, after 67 years of marriage. To this union there were three children, Janice (Neil, preceded in death) Krause of Waukesha, Patricia Wolf of Lake Geneva and James (Marilyn) Matysik of Chaseburg. She was the much-loved grandmother to Rick, Cynthia, Jeffrey, Tracey and Todd; great-grandmother to Richie, Kristina, Kimberly, Zachary, Allie and Carie; and great-great-grandmother to Ryan, Evan, Ashley and Aarin.
Gladys grew up and farmed with her husband in the Fairchild area until 1974. She was also employed as a certified nursing assistant for more than 30 years, which included working at Sunset Nursing Home in Fairchild for 15 years, Osseo Nursing Home and Hospital for six years and Northview Nursing Home and Hospital for 10 years. They moved to Delafield where she retired from nursing in 1987. She enjoyed needlework, reading, and traveling, but most of all, she enjoyed family get-togethers. Gladys will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass on Thursday, Feb. 26 at St. Paulís Catholic Church, highways 83 and D, Genesee Depot. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Wales.
