Lester Erwin Wallschlager

Lester Erwin Wallschlager, 81, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Lester was born Jan. 18, 1927, to Erwin and Ruth (Vick) Wallschlager.

He served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II in the Military Police based in Korea. Lester married Darlene (Hales) Halpin on Oct. 31, 1959. He was a dairy, beef and crop farmer and worked full time as a Waukesha County Sheriff’s deputy. Although he was always busy working, he made time to be a loving husband, brother, father and, later, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Darlene. Lester was a very proud of his five children, Ann (Marty) Franke of Hartland, Barbara (Paul) George of Brooklyn, Mike (Mary Pavlick) Halpin of Waupaca, David (Maureen) Halpin of Merrill and Rebecca (Mike) Beck of Waunakee. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, JoDee (Tyler) George Nifong, Ryan (Amy) George, Adam George, Anne George, Teri (Mat) Hodapp, Jeff (Erin) Halpin, Marcus Halpin, Zach Beck, Olivia Beck and Austin Wallschlager, and great-grandchildren, Kaela George and Natalie Halpin. Also surviving is his brother, Dale Wallschlager, and nieces and nephews.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Harold, Gordon, Shirley Ridley and Ruth Markey.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service Saturday, Jan. 3, at Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church, N66-W32690 Highway K, Hartland, with the Rev. Dr. E. Wayne Adcock officiating. His final rest will be in Lisbon-Merton Union Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County.
