BURLINGTON Doug E. Potter Aug. 15, 1943
- Jan. 1, 2009 Doug E. Potter, 65, of
Burlington, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at his home. He was born Aug. 15,
1943, in West Bend to Earl Walter and Ruth Rose (nee Raddeman) Potter. He
spent his early life in West Bend. He received his master’s degree from
the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and continued his graduate work
there and at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. On Feb. 15, 2003, he
married Kathleen Mary Stockwell Kind in Burlington. Following marriage
they made their home in the Burlington area. Doug was
superintendent of Westosha Central High School. He was a member of
Elmbrook Church and a former member of Kiwanis.
Survivors include his
wife, Kathleen of Burlington; step-daughters, Amy (Justin) Snyder of
Burlington, Sara (Kurt) Spencer of New Berlin and Amber Panawash of
Waukesha; grandchildren, Kadence and Natalie Spencer; brother, Kenneth
(Vicki) Potter of West Bend; niece, Michelle (Dave) Fagan of Fort
Lauderdale, Fla.; and nephews, Jeffrey Potter of Ormond Beach, Fla., and
Zachary Potter of West Bend. He is further survived by aunts, uncles,
cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in
death by his parents and grandparents.
Relatives and friends
may meet with the family from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, at Schuette-Daniels
Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Funeral services will be
held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Dr. Douglas Schoen
officiating. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at St.
Mary’s Cemetery in Burlington. The family wishes to
thank Dr. Michael Mullane and his staff for the care they gave Doug. They
also wish to thank family and friends and the staff and students at
Westosha Central for all their love and support.
