Genevieve Marie "Gen" Thompson (nee Heim) joined Jesus on New Yearís Day. She was 90 years young and touched the lives of so many.
Her love, support and friendship will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.
Gen was the beloved mother of Denny (Angie), Ron (Sue), Karen (Bob) Gartzke, Mary (Rick) Rice and Jim (Mary). She took great joy and pride in, and was loved by, her 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ralph; her brother, Thomas Heim; and her parents, John and Loretta (nee Dobner) Heim.
After working many years as a private secretary for an interior designer in Milwaukee, Gen joined the school office staff at Ethan Allen School for Boys in Wales. She retired from there as an administrative assistant in 1979. Gen was formerly an active member of Christian Mothers at St. Brunoís Church in Dousman. The last two decades she has been a faithful member of St. Maryís Church in Sullivan. Gen continued to live an active life, swimming at the YMCA and belonging to three card clubs.
A special thank you is sent to the Sullivan Fire Departmentís emergency medical technicians and the staff at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital and ProHealth Hospice Home Care.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 at St. Maryís Catholic Church in Sullivan, which is at the corner of highways 18 and F. The Mass of Christian burial will follow at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sullivan Fire Departmentís emergency medical services or to the family for distribution to Genís favorite charity would be appreciated.
