Helen Marie Donohue

Helen Marie Donohue, 99, of Baraboo, passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. Helen was born April 4, 1909, in Lyndon Station, the daughter of Vincent and Millicent (nee Gujer) Brady.

She was a graduate from Kilbourn High School (Wisconsin Dells) and attended St. Theresa College in Winona, Minn. On April 30, 1937, she was united in marriage to John Donohue at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lyndon Station. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1995. Helen enjoyed visiting with family during summer vacations, especially the grandchildren. She was an avid reader, gardener, baker and attended Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church as often as she could. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include two children, Mary Powell of Carriere, Miss., and Thomas (Jan) Donohue of Waukesha; five grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Powell of Austin, Texas, Sue Ellen Powell of Covington, La., Patrick (Karen) Powell of Nemo, Texas, Timothy (Allison) Powell of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Christopher Powell of Picayune, Miss.; 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, John, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Brady of Reedsburg, and her parents.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Friday, Jan. 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 300 Second St., Baraboo, with the Rev. Larry Bakke officiating. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. Clare Meadows Heath Care Center activities department.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Clare Meadows for the loving care given to Helen during her stay.
