Darrel ‘Red’ Clauer Sr.

Darrel "Red" Clauer Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and brother, was born July 20, 1917, and passed away at Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at his residence in Amite, La. He was 91 and a native of Linden Township of Iowa County in Wisconsin.
Mr. Red was a former resident of Delafield for 28 years and also of Clinton, Ark., for 28 years before living in Amite for the last three years. He was a bricklayer and retired in 1977 from Milwaukee Bricklayers No. 8 and also was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Red is survived by his wife, Evelyn Paullin Clauer of Amite; three sons, David Schaefer of Rockford, Ill., Darrel (Pam) Clauer Jr. of Clinton and Frank (Susan) Clauer of Helenville; four daughters, Loretta (Vincent) Goetsch of Coker Creek, Tenn., Wanda (Kirk) Van Den Heuvel of Germantown, Susan (Bruce) Kemmerling of Watertown and Kathleen (Dickie) Davis of Amite; a sister, Nahldan Kneble of Dodgeville; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Clauer of Fort Myers, Fla.; 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Gertrude Slaght Clauer; a daughter, Victoria "Vickie" Clauer; two sisters, Ella and Erma; four brothers, Orville, Ronald, Herbert and Ernest "Bud"; and a granddaughter, Michelle Robin Marie Kemmerling.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
