Ralph R. Gelhar

Ralph R. Gelhar of Mukwonago passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. He was 89. Ralph was born in Milwaukee on Dec. 15, 1919, the son of Robert and Anna (nee Horn) Gelhar.
Ralph was a graduate of South Division High School in Milwaukee, where he held the pole vaulting record for many years. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, a retired delivery man from Golden Guernsey and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include three sons, Robert (Georgiann), Thomas (Carol) and Ronald (Sandy) Gelhar; one daughter, Christine Gajewski; a sister, Eleanore Schram; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanne; and a sister, Delores.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Mukwonago. Entrance to the cemetery is on Eagle Lake Avenue (Highway LO). Please meet at the cemetery.
