James E. Jahnz March 3, 1939 - Jan. 18, 2009
He was a 1957 graduate of Hartford Union High School. After high school, he attended Mayville Teacher School, and after teacher’s college, taught at the Merton grade school. His next teaching assignment was at Dousman Grade School, where he taught for 28 years. He was noted for his science classes. James served as president of the Kettle Moraine School District for six years. He served as the chairman for town of Ashippun for six years and on the Dodge County Board for four years. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Ashippun, where he served and held many church positions. James loved to garden, and as a hobby, had a greenhouse where he raised flowers, vegetables and many types of lilies. He enjoyed traveling and toured many foreign countries. James was preceded in death by his nephew, Dean Jahnz. He is survived by his brothers, Jerome of Woodland and Harry of Wild Rose; his nieces and nephews, Randall Jahnz of Wisconsin Rapids, Terri (Gary) Weber of Chilton, Steven Jahnz of Adams, Ronda (Kenneth) Bamberg of South Carolina, Andrea (Michael) Bertotto of Chilton and Bobbi (Jeffrey) Craig of Prairie du Sac; and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Ashippun, N1245 St. John’s Way, Ashippun. Visitation continues from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Jan. 31, at the church. The Rev. Gary W. Tillmann will officiate. Interment will be at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials to the American Heart Association or St. John’s Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
