Betty J. Piwoni

Betty J. Piwoni, 78, of Lake Geneva, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at the Waterford Senior Living Center. She was born Sept. 1, 1930, in New Berlin, to the late Alois and Helen (nee Casper) Tesch. She spent her early life in New Berlin.

On May 5, 1951, in New Berlin, Betty was united in marriage to Louis G. Piwoni. Following marriage, they resided in Milwaukee and Franklin until 1977. Betty and Louis then moved to Lake Geneva. Louis preceded Betty in death Nov. 29, 2006.

Betty and Louis owned and operated the Inn-B-Tween Restaurant and Motel from 1977 until 2007. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.

Betty was an avid baker, gardener and crafter and she enjoyed collecting period dolls. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and always took interest in their lives.

Survivors include her loving children, Barbara Nelson of Bowling Green, Ky., Judith Kolbow of Milwaukee, Jeanette (Peter) Mandli of Burlington, Christine Piwoni of Milwaukee, Deborah (Gary) Goodchild of Dousman, Gregory (Barb) Piwoni of Kewaskum and Patrice (Mike) Miller of Colgate; grandchildren, Ben, Nicole, Andrew, Sarah, Stephanie, David, Rachel, Alex, Morgan, Georgia, Olivia and Nathan; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Marion Tesch; and by a brother, Leo Tesch.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Private services were held. Burial took place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery have been suggested.
