Elizabeth ‘Betty’ McGeen


July 13, 1926 - June 29, 2009



Elizabeth “Betty” McGeen, a lifelong resident of Waukesha, died unexpectedly Monday, June 29, 2009, at her home at age 82. Betty was born July 13, 1926, the daughter of William and Laura Meidenbauer. 


She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waukesha. Betty was honored to loyally serve her church as an Eucharistic minister, trustee and member of the Stephen Ministry. She was a volunteer for St. Mary’s Finance Department and was an invaluable key player for the Funeral Luncheon Ministry. Betty enjoyed working as an election poll official and was a volunteer at the Waukesha and New Berlin Historical Societies as well as a reading volunteer at Hadfield Elementary School. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and many friends. Betty was and always will be loved and adored by all who knew her.


Betty will be dearly missed by her children, Bonnie (Rick) Phipps of Waukesha, Michael (Nancy) McGeen of Brookfield, Diane (Stephen Pater) McGeen of Brookfield, Mark (Diane) McGeen of Waukesha, Laurie (Jim) Morin of Florida and Kevin (Tammy Colavecchi) McGeen of Milwaukee; son-in-law, Edward (Pati) Falk of Nevada; grandchildren, Dr. Aaron (Mindy) Falk, Michael Falk, Colin Falk, Jason (Tiffany)  Phipps, Ben (Jes) Phipps, Megan (fiance Geoff Giltner) McGeen, John McGeen, Katherine Pater, Kimberly Pater, Stephanie (Dan) Ziolkowski, Aimee McGeen, Dan McGeen, Haley McGeen, Hannah McGeen, Colleen (fiance Erik Lutz)  Morin and Sean Morin; great-grandchildren, Kaytlin and Karlie Phipps, Aaron, Kyla and Shane Ziolowski; sisters, Lorraine Storck, Arlene Stanfield and Marilyn (Al) Leisten; and brother-in-law, Walter (Doris) O’Meara. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends.


Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; daughter, Patricia Ann Falk; grandson, Chad McGeen; her parents; brother, Raymond Meidenbauer; sister, Marie O’Meara; brothers-in-law, James Storck and James Stanfield; nephew, Robert O'Meara; and niece, Beth Stanfield.


Visitation for Betty will be held from 4 p.m. until the 6:30 p.m. vigil service today, July 2, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. A second visitation will be held Friday, July 3, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. The Very Rev. James T. Volkert will officiate and the Rev. William Stanfield will co-officiate. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Waukesha. 


In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Mary’s Catholic Church (see address above) or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
