WAUKESHA

June B. Brinkerhoff

June 27, 1916 - July 22, 2009

June Brinkerhoff of Waukesha passed away July 22, 2009, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 93. June was born to Reinhardt and Sadie Polzin on June 27, 1916, and grew up in Milwaukee. Sadie died of the 1918 influenza epidemic.

She was raised by her Dad and her Nanny, Nancy Hakes, a wonderful ‘Mom’ for June. After high school, she entered nurses training at Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee. In 1937, she became an RN. She did private duty nursing and ultimately met an interesting patient who became her husband. June and John were married in 1940.

June was a stay-at-home mom and always loved music. She was a piano and organ teacher for many years, enjoying the many kids and families that she met. June also was active with John in the Masons and the church.

June dealt with health issues for much of her adult life, but was always determined to enjoy life. Her attitude was always positive and she had great energy. One of her doctors told her it was very unlikely she would make it to 60. While he had good cause to say that, June celebrated her 93rd birthday last month.

June is survived by her son, John; her grandsons, Michael, Shayne, Steven, Thomas, Chad and Nicholas; and her great-grandchildren, Matt, Ashton and Jake.
