George P. 'Joe' Voelzke

George P. "Joe" Voelzke was born Oct. 25, 1936, and died Sunday, May 31, 2009. He was the son of the late George and Frances (Shauzy) Voelzke of Merton.

Joe is survived by two children, Heidi Goodman of Jupiter, Fla., and Jason Voelzke of Wellington, Fla.; a brother, James (Jim) Voelzke of Danbury, Conn.; his grandchildren, Katelyn and Kristina Goodman and Josh Voelzke; nieces, Dana and Erin Voelzke; and nephews, Peter and Ryan Voelzke.

After graduating from Waukesha High School in 1955, Joe served in the U.S. Navy. He then moved back to Wisconsin where he started a long and prestigious career of over 40 years in the construction industry. Joe worked in multiple states and made numerous friends wherever he went. He was a member of many clubs and organizations over the years and was a master Mason. His many hobbies included hunting and fishing in northern Wisconsin with his friends, and in later years he became an avid NASCAR fan.

A memorial service will be held in the fall in Ixonia, where Joe will be laid to rest.
